Ocean City State Park - Washington

Ocean City State Park is the perfect example of the privileges Washingtonians enjoy.  The sea, the forest and perfect sunsets.

Ocean City State Park is large but each campsite feels very intimate, private and generously sized.  Rangers are extremely helpful and each site is cleaned regularly.  We loved this campground so much we extended our stay.

Did we mention you can drive on the beach?!  A quick drive to Ocean Shores gave us beach access to drive on the beach! Does it get any better?  Beach driving is open for most seasons and makes it easy to find your own slice of heaven for the day.

We stopped for lunch and supplies in Ocean Shores which has a number of great restaurants to choose from.  Our favorite was Bennett’s Fish Shack.

Wildlife in the park was abundant due to the North Bay Natural Preserve, which is a shallow bay that welcomes birds and wildlife.

Our take: It’s a bit of a hike to the beach, so if you plan to bring a lot with you it’s worth it to drive to Ocean Shores and drive directly onto the beach . We stayed in Loop 3 in site #71 for the first night and site #110 for the second night. In site #110 (which is on the West side) we could hear waves in the distance. We found ourselves unable to decide which was better, the campground or the beach.  We spent one night on the beach to watch the sunset and one night telling stories by the campfire. Bathrooms were clean and included a shower.

  • Fire Ring: Yes, cleaned regularly. No wood for sale onsite.

  • Ranger Station: Yes

  • Trash on site: Yes

  • Water on site: Yes
