REI Kingdom 4 Tent Review

Tent Sweet Tent…

Tents can make or break a camping trip and we have certainly battle tested this one. Our tent of choice is the Kingdom 4 from REI.

Here are a few reasons we love it:

  • The height: Mike is 6 ft. and can comfortably stand inside.

  • The size: It rains A LOT in the Pacific Northwest. We can use the tent as a shelter and play games until the rain clears.

  • Versatility: On warm nights we leave the rain fly off and stargaze. There are two doors, one can be used as a window which keeps the airy when the rain fly is on. The rain fly can also be rolled up.

  • Set up: It is SO easy to set this tent up. Color coding and water proof instructions inside the bag make set up a breeze.

  • It’s a backpack! The tent bag itself is a backpack making walk-in campsites possible.

  • Storage: Pockets line the interior and are in each corner of the roof.

We put a lot of thought into our gear and we couldn’t be happier.  The footprint is a little larger than standard 4 person tents but we haven’t found a place it doesn’t fit.

PRO TIP: REI was extremely helpful and let us set up three tents in the store to compare models. If you have an REI near you we recommend asking if you can set up different models for your own comparison.

Dimensions: Floor - 100 in. x 100 in. (8 ft. 4 in. x 8 ft. 4 in.), Peak height - 75 in.
