Highway 2 Adventure

Looking for an easy day trip, or hoping to experience the mountains of Washington? Highway 2 could be what you are looking for.

Highway 2 begins in Everett, Washington and actually ends in Michigan (but of course we didn’t go that far). We began our journey in Everett and ended in Leavenworth, Washington.  The portion we traveled is also known as the Stevens Pass Greenway on the Cascade Loop.

Stevens Pass is beautiful anytime of year but is especially popular in the winter when the Stevens Pass Ski Resort is open.

We stopped at the Swift Water Picnic Ground in the Wenatchee National Forest. The picnic ground is full of options for enjoying a meal on the river. Picnic tables are located along the river and sheltered among the trees and there are plenty of viewpoints throughout the picnic area. We were also grateful for the public restrooms.

Leavenworth, Washington was our final destination and it never disappoints.  Leavenworth is a Bavarian themed town in the heart of the Cascade mountains. There’s something for everyone is this wonderfully fun and lighthearted town. Click here for more details about how to plan your visit.

The Cascade Loop website is also full of all the details you need to plan your trip. It recommends different scenic byways, places to stop along the way and even historical information.

The next time your find yourself wanting to get some fresh air with very little effort a Highway 2 adventure might be just what you need!
