The Blackwell Boutique Hotel

The Blackwell Boutique Hotel in Coeur d’Alene Idaho is a luxury retreat that won’t break the budget.  The Blackwell was built in 1904 as a wedding gift for lumberman F.A. Blackwell’s son, Russell Blackwell.  The wealthy entrepreneur spared no expense for his son and the mansion was built to the highest standards of luxury for its time.

Located just blocks away from Coeur d’Alene city center, the Blackwell Hotel stands out on Sherman Avenue.  With a three-story facade and generous front porch it’s hard not to gawk.  I couldn’t wait to open the front door and find out what was waiting inside.

We were generously greeted by the hotel manager with freshly baked cookies and an actual door key.  Our room was thoughtfully laid out it was clear that attention to detail is the highest priority. Mike needed a place to work while I took in the sights of the city. Free WiFi and a comfortable place to work in the suite actually helped him to wrap up early.

Our king size bed was so comfortable I don’t think we moved all night. We were treated to breakfast in the morning which was made to order and included as much coffee as we could drink.

Staff members were gracious and extremely informative. We booked last minute and shortly after received a call to be sure we were welcomed and had all the information we would need for our stay.  Although public areas were restricted due to COVID, the main floor includes two large fireplaces to lounge by, a parlor with a pool table and a large dining table.  Guests can also find several comfortable seats on the front porch. The Blackwell Hotel is a stunning wedding or event venue, with a large backyard and gazebo.

As many of you know we visit Coeur d’Alene often. It looks like we have found our new go-to for hotel stays!
